My Travel Experiences at Kedarnath Dham

I must thank two of my customers due to whom I could make 2 separate trips to Shri Kedarnath Dham. I was longing for this trip for many years but didn’t get the opportunity. Being a religious person, Kedarnath Dham trip was in my bucket list for places to visit.

Kedarnath Dham main entrance. You feel Heaven on Earth.

With my customers, we reached Sonprayag, beyond which no vehicles are allowed. There is a huge parking facility, and few hotels to check-in. From Sonprayag your trek starts up-hill towards Kedarnath Dham. On the way you see a big rapid river called Gaurikund and can witness big crowd taking pictures and making videos.

On the trekking path which takes approximately 5 to 6 hours on foot, you can view many beautiful big and small waterfalls.

The trek is tiring but enjoyable. You can also take a horse ride to reach the Dham. There are plenty of small restaurants & dhabas, so no problem with food. There are public conveniences managed by Sulabh every few kilometers across the entire stretch.

The evening Aarti at Kedarnath temple is splendid and soul filling. The ringing sound of bells, the beats of Damru, the mesmerizing aroma of the Incense and the chanting of Lord Shiva, makes you feel out of this world in some magical land. You feel at ease and feel blessed.

After visiting Kedarnath temple, devotees go to Bhairav Mandir, where it is considered very auspicious to offer oblations.

Once you reach Kedarnath Dham, there are plenty of hotels. You can stay there as long as you like, and never feel returning back to the madness of city. 1-2 days stay is recommended.

On my first trip to Kedarnath with customer we trekked towards the Dham, however while returning to hotel, we took the Helicopter from Kedarnath Dham. We paid Rs.1500 / person for the one way return trip to the Helicopter office. I would advise, that if you wish to take the Helicopter ride than please do on-line booking in advance, because there is huge que in the Helipad office.

My first ride in Helicopter with my customer. Sitting beside the Pilot.

On reaching our hotel at Sonprayag, we picked our luggage from the locker room, and headed straight back to Delhi.
